Can I see some ID please?

As you might be able to guess from the title of this post my visa arrived today :D they were really good too with timings although I'd make the error of asking for delivery between 8am and 10am and paid dearly in pennies but on the plus side my beautiful visa arrived about 9am this morning so all is well! There has been discussion over the need for ID for the visa and I did need mine although I've heard people say they didn't need there's suppose it just shows that some post men are more strict than others! lol But it's all sorted now and I am in possession of the visa.

I emailed yummy jobs about the preferences for roles and it's now too late to request which makes me a little sad but I guess it is my own fault I should've done the requesting earlier on in the year. It's just been such a crazy year so far with so much going on that role preferences didn't really cross my mind until now when it's too late, but as Kristen from yummy jobs said I will 'love the role' I'm given! I am sure I most certainly will.

I've been wandering around the internet and making little check lists in my mind for things I need to get before June! At the moment the list is growing and it's getting longer, I'll put my list here and finally into words, as keeping it in my mind just keeps meaning that as I'm adding one thing to it another just pops out of my mind! Yes they say brains are like sponges and sieves at the same time, well I'd believe that!
  • Sun screen
  • Sunglasses that match Disney look
  • Combination padlock
  • After sun
  • Plain watch, all my watches are a little to girly and glittery I think
  • Swim suit
  • Insect repellent
That appears to be all I can remember right now although I know that is not all I need, this list seems deceivingly short! Ahh well I can always add to later, let me know if I missed anything that is so obvious!

So after the short list, which I swear is longer, I am also considering what is the best thing to do about phones whilst I'm away. I have a few choices, I can buy a cheap mobile and sim out there, just buy the sim out or order one here before I go and take my phone, but this option will require me to unlock my mobile. So it's a bit of a mind field, I know you have to pay to call and receives calls in the US so there is no way I'll be taking my UK sim with me despite the fact that it would never work as orange have prohibited the sims use abroad for their own special reasons I'm sure! Ok, sorry, that turned into a little bit of a rant didn't it, oops :/

Anyways moving on from the rant, it is the royal wedding tomorrow and another brilliant bank holiday :D so what did Disney do  to coincide with the wedding? They re-release a special version of Cinderella! Whether this was meticulously planned or a shear coincidence I don't know, but either way I think it's probably working to their advantage right now! Other than the news of the royal wedding, the first group of ICP'ers are heading over the pond this weekend! How exciting! Makes me a little jealous as I've still got to wait a while yet but still my time will come :D I wish them all the luck in the world and hope that they do have a 'magical' time out there :D

Dreaming of working for the mouse :D

Well I have received a text to say that my visa and passport will be returned tomorrow morning :D which is really good considering all the bank holidays going on at the moment.  I was kinda worried I wouldn't get it before I headed back up North to go on placement but now all seems good :D Just got to make sure I'm up to sign for the thing :D So that's all set now, just got to wait for further instruction which is awesome, only 52 days to go now until I leave the UK for the longest period in my whole life! It's getting really close and really exciting. Maybe a little scary too. I've never flown on my own before so that'll be a new experience for me but luckily there are now about 15 of us doing the disney ICP on the flight I'm going out on so I won't be alone for long! I think the reality of the whole thing is starting to sink in a little but I do have to keep pinching myself a little.

Also, I love it when you tell people what you're doing over the summer and they're like 'really, wow' it's an amazing feeling, working for the mouse seems to be a lot of people's dreams too :D I had one of these experiences today when I was minding my own business having my hair done and a lady in the hairdressers asked if I was working at Disney as I'd asked my hairdresser for a 'Disney look' classic hair style, which is a pretty vague description to give to a hairdresser I admit, and then I got to have an excited conversation about the 'happiest place on earth' and the sunshine state :D really made my day as well as having the sun shining! I can't wait to be there and have similar excited conversations with all the resorts guests :D

As time is going on I've also been thinking of attraction preferences and considering whether I'd like to request an attraction to work on, these aren't guaranteed but you don't get if you don't ask! I'm not sure if I want to request as if I don't it's all down to them and adds extra excitement to the whole experience! However there are a few attractions I'd rather dodge so there is always the chance of running the risk of getting one of these attractions. Where ever I am based I'm sure for an amazing summer and I know it will be just perfect. Despite this I have been thinking that I'd love to work on the Haunted Mansion or maybe on Soarin' as they are such cool themed attractions. One such a classic it is unmissable the other a contemporary masterpiece of technology :D Maybe I'll drop yummy jobs an email, maybe not, it feels a little like playing the lottery but without a cash prize :D

Anywho I'm going to go and resume my disney dreams.......

One step closer to the Mouse

Hey, well it's about time I update what has been going on with the Disney preparation. I have now finished all of my exams for second year! woop, well that is as long as they all went ok so fingers crossed for that or you'll be waving me goodbye in the middle of August, eek! Other than that only 2 assignments stand between me and the sunshine state so that is amazingly exciting and I really can't wait now, only 8 weeks, which is exactly 55 days, 20 hrs, 5 mins  from now :D tee hee in 8 weeks time I'll be on a plane destined for the 'happiest place on earth'! What a way to spend the summer :D The nice sunny weather we've been having has been making me excited to wake up to sunshine pretty much every day for 3 months! Beats the blues of the british summer :D

I have also had my Visa approved and am just waiting for it to find its way back to me sometime this week. The wait for the appointment took about 2 and half hours which was not too bad really, until you go outside and someone tells you that when they applied for their J1 visa it took them 40 minutes! That has to be a record of some kind?!?! ahh well it's all done now and the visa appointment gave me a great excuse for a little trip to London. I went with some of my family and we got to bask in the capitals awesome weather and horrendously busy streets (easter holidays, not a great time to visit London) which wouldn't have been helped by the run up to easter and then the royal wedding. On the plus side it was still a nice visit and I now have a visa and only the program assessment fee stands between me and the summer of a lifetime!

With exams finished as well I've had a lot more time to think about what the summer holds! I've finally got my hands on some US dollars which really does make it feel a little more real. And I've been checking out the changes and things going on in and around Walt Disney World :) the fantasyland expansion and the re-opening of Star Tours :D There was also an ICP meet in London on the day of my embassy appointment, talk about organisation skills on my part so I could've gone down if I'd planned better but I hope everyone had a great time who did go, there is going to be a Liverpool meet in a few weeks now too so that'll be awesome as I'm hoping to manage to get along to that despite being on placement as off a week on Tuesday :D

Anyways I hope you're all having a great Easter and holiday and don't forget to 'have a magical day' :D
